| Sat Aug 28, 2010 18:35:28 Rob Cyphers Former Staff Member CubScoutW/ | Although I was a staffer on the Cub Scout weekends, I really enjoyed my time there. It is a great place for the scout of all ages to go and learn. I was glad when I saw Dean talking about this page and I came to look. He also found 3 plaques with my (and other staffers) names on them which brings back a lot of fun times. Not only did I work there, I did my Polar Bear badges at the house and the beginning of the road with T39 out of Scarborough. Thanks for all the work you have done for this site Mr. Z!!! It is much appreciated! | ||

| Tue Aug 17, 2010 06:26:03 Jim Richard Scout Attendee, Leader Attende | It's nice to be back home in Maine after a 12-year stint in Tennessee! We're still looking for home and once we know what town we'll be living in, I'll know what District to volunteer my time and energies in! However, regardless of District, I'd love to get involved with Hinds again....its a place very dear to my heart. | ||
| Mon Aug 02, 2010 18:33:41 Bruce Temple attended camp 1960 &1961 | I happened on this site quite by accident and what a wonderful experience it has been. Thanks to those old staff photos I have relived the incomparable weeks I spent at Camp Hinds. In particular I remember those roaring campfires and the old songs we used to sing under the blazing stars. The stuff boyhood dreams are made of. To the folks like Frank Maguire, Charlie Berry, Wally Hayes and all the rest of you.....thanks for the memories. | ||
| Sat Apr 17, 2010 11:17:55 Donald Littlefield Went to camp in the 1970's as | I have been a fan of Camp William Hinds since I was a boy. I still remember doing a late Fall camp out with Troop 4 from Portland at Tenny campsite. We had to bring our own food, build our own fires and cook our own meals. I was a new scout and was very excited the first morning, so I was up and had my fire built using only the two matches we were allowed. As the other older boys awoke, they were impressed with my fire starting ability and allowed me to build their fires. It wasn't till a couple of years later that I realized they just didn't want to have to get out of bed in the cold and start their fire. It's ok, it created a great memory that has kept me going back to Hinds for almost forty years! | ||
| Tue Feb 09, 2010 09:53:24 Bill Bradbury Camper as a youth and District | Great job Dean, I just spent about an half an hour going through this and loved what I saw. My first time to Camp Hinds was in the early 70's, the place has so many memories. I still have some of my scouting stuff from a young cub to boy scout, books, patches, neckerchief slides etc; | ||
| Sun Feb 07, 2010 17:21:23 Mark Billings camped there back in the 60's | Had a blast camping there in the site called SIPLE ! It was an important stepping stone in life to get you started in the right direction. I would love to visit some time and ponder over old memories . Thanks for the web site, good job! | ||
| Sat Dec 05, 2009 19:30:20 MICHELLE (BAILEY) HORNE granddaughter of Betty & Charl | I'm excited to have found this website with all of the old photos of my grandparents. I spent a couple weekends at camp hinds in the early 80s and became friends with Erica. My sister was friends with Brenda. There's a plaque in the the Dining Hall with all of our names on it. My favorite place was the tree stump that Chief Kitpoo carved into a chair. Sadly enough, that tree rotted away many years ago, but I have always wanted to see more photos of my favorite indian chief. Do you have any? | ||
